About Christine
Christine Colosimo specializes in early American dance, particularly the history of George Balanchine's American Ballet, Lincoln Kirstein's Ballet Caravan, and the development of early 20th-century modern dance with special interest in the American avant-garde choreographer, Erick Hawkins. Christine studied modern dance and choreography with Hawkins in New York City, became an administrative assistant to the school and company, taught classes in the Hawkins technique at his studio, and worked as company understudy. She has conducted archival research on Hawkins's life and body of work towards the completion of her PhD dissertation and forthcoming book.

Christine has extensive dance training and performance experience in both NYC and New Jersey where she studied and performed with some of the most influential dancers of the twentieth century such as Irene Fokine (niece to Michel Fokine), Ana Sokolow, Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Don Redlich, Claudia Gittleman, Laura Glenn, Finis Jung, Zena Romett, and Irene Dowd. She has collaborated with visual artists from around the world creating pieces that combine live dance with video dance, live music with electronic music, and live dance with light painting and photography. Her interests lie in the collaborative process of working with visual artists, musicians, photographers, videographers, poets, and opera singers.

As founder and director of the NJ based dance company, I'll Have What She's Having... dance project, her mission is to empower and encourage dancers to continue to produce and perform as they age, challenging the age normative for dance.
Christine is also an avid dance educator. Now residing in New Jersey, she is New Jersey State certified in both Dance Education and K-5 Education and her expertise as an Artist in Residence is prominent in Mercer County, NJ. She is well-known for her Integrated Arts programs with elementary aged school children that incorporate non-arts based curriculum with arts-based curriculum. Christine's new interest is senior care as she is developing curriculum and teaching Chair Tap Dance to people living in Assisted Living and Nursing Home facilities.
